Floral Evolution - Collaboration with Claire Anderson, 2015

-

‘Floral Evolution’ explores developmental patterns and influences shaping form in flora. In describing the flower’s role as a powerful evolutionary innovator Anderson and Tian allow the plant world to access new means and mechanisms for reproduction by playing on the enormous variation in the developmental program of different plants.

By questioning how the enormous diversity in the shape, color and sizes of flowers has been established they encourage new inter-relationships and genetic mutations, these genes, in turn, act as direct controllers of flower development.
